WORKING SMARTER TOGETHER

We are not currently taking any new referrals for Aatea at FSM.

Aatea works together with tamaraki, rangatahi and whānau to create better outcomes for children from 0-18 years. It’s not another service or programme, but a different approach to coordinate a central plan for the social services that are needed for complex family situations.

The Aatea approach brings together existing services provided by agencies, NGOs, iwi, community members and other organisations to get tamariki and whānau the support that they really need.

There is a focus on agencies working together and sharing information to reduce duplication and improve outcomes for tamariki. The coordinated approach is also intended to reduce the stress for whānau with complex challenges & multiple social service providers.

Aatea recognises that tamariki needs are multi-faceted and seek to address this through the team approach that acknowledges that no single agency alone can help their children thrive.

We want to help our families enjoy the precious time they spend with each other by supporting whānau to create a safer, calmer and more loving environment.

Our approach is whānau-led and tamariki focussed so it is the whanau who will lead the plan with their specific goals. A Lead Professional from Aatea will support the whanau to navigate the services that are already involved and identify further services that the whanau and tamariki could benefit from in order to reach their goals. The professionals involved will work on one plan so everyone works together to support the tamariki and whānau.

The FSM Aatea team covers the geographical areas of Manurewa, Homai/Clendon, Papakura and Takanini. Aatea works with tamariki from birth up to the age of 18.
