Families whose circumstances put at risk good health, education and welfare outcomes for their children should: - Be provided with appropriate support and resources to ensure the safety of their children.
- Be provided with a culturally relevant and professional service.
- Have access to a range of services that will address physical, cultural, emotional, social and educational needs as early as possible in the child’s life.
- Receive tailored, appropriate services that are guided by an agreed individual family service plan.
- Be full participants in all aspects of service delivery, including programme development and service evaluation.
- Have services provided in a timely, coordinated and therapeutic manner through appropriate services and agencies in accordance with their changing needs.
- Receive services within the least restrictive, most normative environment that is appropriate.
- Have services delivered in a manner which reflect and build on the strengths of families, their culture and community.
- Have services delivered in a manner that reflects the actual provisions and principles of the Treaty of Waitangi.
