Children's Team Approach
FSM has eight lead professionals who are part of the the Children's Team approach.
We work with many different families, with a variety of different struggles. Our aim is to support whanau to grow into a safer, loving and more supportive environment. We want our families to enjoy the time they spend with each other.

“We have seven highly trained lead professionals working with the Children’s Team approach,” says supervisor Dolly Proffit. “Our whanau's can also access some of the really fabulous things that FSM offer's, like school start, baby boxes, a Kaumatua, the incredible years programme and the fathers programme.”
Children’s Team sits under the Oranga Tamariki banner, and the lead professional will coordinate all the services for the whanau they work with. They have a close relationship with a number of different agencies, and work with families who have been referred and have children under the age of 16.
“Unlike Family Start, you can’t self-refer to Children’s Team,” explains CEO Colleen, who notes your social worker will refer you if they think it's right for you. “It’s a team dedicated to helping children 0-18 who face really tough barriers to their experiencing success. Our LP's take the learning they have from working with young families and the community and build on it to make a difference for older children and teens.”
